Half-way through - hurrah!

Round 6 done 2 hours ago and no issues to report so far. I am having a mini celebration with a gingerale because this is now officially HALF WAY

Still scratching my head and having a silver snowstorm of hair fall out, who knew I had so much hair and that it would take so long. I haven't had the dramatic hair loss you see in the movies

I have been a bit more tired this week but I've felt worse in the past when I've had flu so still nothing to whinge about.

Still a bit to go but I reckon this is as good a time as any to say a huge thank you to my family, friends and workmates for all their support so far. 

The gifts, little treats, messages, phone calls, laughs and jokes have been a great help. 

A massive thank you to my sister Isla and her family for having me at their house the first few times and Isla's company at appointments. Mum and Ali's head gear [much admired] and Sunday dinners. I've graduated to feeling fine about being home with the cat, and have promised to call the moment there's any change.

Feeling really good that I'm on the home straight now, I'm a bloody lucky tart eh!

Round 5 - what was I thinking?

Round 5 got off to a bit of a rocky start, my good vein packed a sad and blew up a bit, there's going to be an impressive bruise. Second try, no luck and the poor nurse said to me "I'm really sorry but I have a two go rule and then I get someone else." 

So more hot water soaking, fist pumping and lots of holding my breath [didn't realise I was doing it until I blew out, and asked "It is in now - right?" 'cos I sure as hell wasn't looking] third time - success!

I love the RNs in this place, they are so reassuring and unflappable, the 2nd nurse told me, "You do have good veins, they just like to hide."

Once that minor hurdle was over, the rest was a piece of cake. I'm at home, have had dinner including my "Aunt Betty's" mini steam pudding - chocolate flavour this time. Checked in with Mum and the Tauranga sisters and I'm watching trash telly.

This is also where I confess that I had a really good cry post chemo,  but it's because I finished my e-reader book "Me before you" when I got home.

OMG it's such a great read but probably not the kind of book to read when going thru cancer treatment. Who am I kidding, I probably would have cried my eyes out after reading it anyway. I used to cry when watching Cilla Black's "Surprise Surprise"! I had to look at the photos of my weekend away to cheer myself up.

Still 0 on the vomitron scale -so far so good and next week being Round 6 means it's the half-way milestone

Round 4 AND 1/3 of the way thru Woohoo!

Round 4 was Herceptin and chemo, it's been almost 4 hours post chemo and so far so good

I do not want to jinx myself, but I reckon I'm going to be ok for a friends celebration in Rotorua this weekend, I don't think Kirsten Wig will be going though

I am now officially 1/3 of the way through chemo and have gotten thru Round 4. Joseph Parker has nothing on me!

Round 3 done. Still 0 on the vomitron scale

My hair has been feeling yuck for days and although none had fallen out, I decided to take control on chemo day & my nephew Tom did the cutting while niece Kat filmed it.

My friend and hairdresser Lynette kindly tidied it up the next day.

While I do have my wig "Kirsten" I feel better going out in public with the crew cut look, I feel like too much of a reality TV show wannabe somehow when I'm wearing Kirsten. 

I may change my mind if I'm totally hairless and today I seem to be shedding bits of hair everywhere so watch this space...
